Night, a time when most people were comfortable and at peace in their warm beds. The mist lapped against the school walls, muffling the footsteps of any late night wanderers. It's what she had counted on; the solitude, the overwhelming rush of nature apparent on the school grounds. The mist wasn't thick that night, but it still gave the ethereal feel that she yearned for. The grass wall cool against her bare feet as she strayed off the stony path. The clinging dew drops cooled her skin, as she wandered further and further into the untamed. It may have been night, but there were still other students who wandered the paths, meeting in secret to consummate what they believed true love. as if to prove her point a laugh, like the tinkling of a Christmas bell sounded from behind her. the answering murmur made her teeth grind. Lia's heart gave a slight squeeze as she thought about the other students basking in their youthful love. It wasn't a logical emotion to envy others for finding companionship, but it was one of the strongest she'd felt. She could not find love in a human because of her family, and yet she herself was human. Her mind floated back to the days when she willed herself to believe that a magical creature from somewhere would whisk her away and finally give her the thing she'd always longed for. To become one of the hidden world. She scoffed at herself, it was nothing but a pipe dream. She'd noticed the way the other students looked at her, pitying that she was a weak creature surrounded by the swell of powers. She tucked a wisp of long ebony hair behind her ear and raced on, hoping no one gave her enough mind to follow her direction. Far off in the grounds stood an old willow, her secret place. It was well hidden by other trees, overgrown shrubs, a place away from the masses. Long past someone had made a makeshift swing to hang from the old gnarled branches high above the ground; of all the places on the ground it was her favorite. The closest she would get to flying was that swing, she coveted every moment with it. When the tree came in sight Lia held herself back no longer, in a breathless dash she raced for the swinging leaves. "I'm back, after so many weeks I can fly again." she breathlessly laughed. In her flight she never noticed the alchemy book drop from her loosened grip. In a graceful leap, she reached for the swing, wrapping her hands around the ivy covered ropes. Her feet searched for the smoothed wood of the seat.

The night had finally overlapped the last blanket of orange that he so much dreaded. Along it had brought its sparkling stars dotting the dark canopy and the lighting, silver lighting of the moon upon its wake. With a sigh of relief, the boy flattened a palm against his chest. He was considered just "a baby" when it came to the dreadful curse of that defined him what he was, a blood sucking parasite. In turn, while others could control themselves to the point of being able to prance around blood like it was a natural part of their inhumane lives, he couldn't be near a human without his mouth watering and his stomach firing up the hollow feeling of hunger. Whenever the night bestowed upon the school his twin brother used to attend, it washed a sense of relief that he didn't have to live with the constant headache of a deliciously smelling, walking meal. All of them were cushioned in the comfort of their beds thus giving him the freedom to roam around with other creatures that didn't smell as appetizing as bloody humans could.
A quick shove of hands into pant pockets and the vampire boy was well away in his path outside the school. It was a damn well-deserved getaway, an applaud of sorts for being able to withstand the presence of humans--especially human girls--around him. Granted, his pale blues averted one too many times to the shapely curve of their neck or the supple translucent skin that did very little to shield the gushing warm rubies through that jugular vein.
Curse his damned fate. The vague thought reminded his stomach of that hollow feeling again. He hadn't fed properly in days, just those disgusting "blood packs" his twin sent him from time to time. It was filth; a vampire could not live like that. He appreciated the thought that it was o negative, which made up for quite an aftertaste, but it was already cold and lifeless. Was he supposed to survive off of that?!
Sighing again, his feet kept tracing around the stone pathway, one of his hands combing through white, unruly tresses, trying to figure out a way to feed or to get by through another day without having an announced death make the obituary of a world-renowned magical school. Something peculiar, however, managed to distract his mind enough to stop him halfway through the little dip of grazing green blades from the safety of a flat surface. These... overly happy thoughts flooded him, a flash of a girl swinging from vines and a board suddenly glazing his eyes over into oblivion as he observed the words and the picture it formed in his head.
What was interesting about it all was that he could feel the warm rush of adrenaline and hot blood gushing through with the thought, the dizzying feeling of emotions and overwhelming elation filling him with a jolt that caused to shake his hands in the opposite direction with quick, witted motions. His pale blues suddenly focused not too far away from his path, a naive looking girl swinging and breathing away her excitement and for a moment, Ristan was entranced in the way she moved and the gracefulness of the picture, but in another, his mouth was quick to water and do a mental tick that he had found his meal for the night. He didn't remember, however, when or why in the fuck he had decided to approach this human with specific intentions, already breezing a smooth laugh and calling a small, "Hey," that mentally furrowed his brows and snarled his features, but the outcome to her was hypnotizing and easy-going. His vampire charm had tuned in very quickly and it had all the intentions of controlling the very step to where his teeth would graze her neck and devour the very source that kept her moving.

Lia leapt from her perch, Spreading her arms wide to prolong the euphoria. It was love she felt floating through the air. The drop to the ground the expected result, along with the pain of glee leaving her body. The call from behind her drew her attention quickly. Millions of thoughts raced through her mind. The biggest one being that her hiding place had been discovered. Her sadness at the loss of privacy was fleeting, replaced by a warm welcome. "Well, hiya. Fancy meeting another person out here this late. Then again, what's normal in a world of the un-normal. This could be normal wandering time for you. Oh, I'm babbling aren't I. Large apologies. Lia..I mean I'm Lia." she huffed out. A blush at her terrible introduction crept up her throat, blooming across her ivory cheeks. Forcing herself to calm down, the young woman took a step forward and outstretched her hand. She winced slightly as she flattened her hand. Sliver of red curled it's way across her palm, pulsing with discomfort. "Oh, sorry. I seem to have cut myself on the swing." Quickly she replaced the injured hand with the other, still ready to shake hands. A common tradition in most cultures. Her mind fluttered, trying to regain a cool and aloof attitude she'd seen the other students sporting. Of course in their case it was most likely not a mask and was in fact their superior personality. Out of pure habit, her injured hand went to her mouth to lick up any dirt or gravel that may have been imbedded in the soft tissues. Her distraction became even more apparent as she tried to clean the wound and walk in synch. The result was a drunken weave and more wincing as her tongue speared the sensitive flesh with more vigor than intended.

There were many situations Ristan had been prepared for; when it came to girls, it was easy to foreshadow their reactions and it was easier for the vampire for the simple reason that his suave, hypnotizing charm wasn't something that was easy to not swoon over or be startled by. He'd seen it many times no matter what his demeanor was at the time - and who could blame them, really? Vampires were predators meant to allure in their prey; they were meant to look like shiny, attractive objects that invited those vulnerable enough. Like a light to a fly, that was their purpose - but Ristan wasn't ready for the last of her actions. The babbling he anticipated; women often when nervous over talked to mask their sentiment and admittedly, it was sort of endearing the way they flustered easily as it could be annoying it most cases. He offered his best smile at the small talk, a dangerously sultry smile that didn't pull farther off his teeth to mask the sharpness of the following fangs that usually gave a more symmetrical allure to grins.
The blood, however, he wasn't counting on. At least, not as an accident - more like an intentional situation, but the girl seemed to provoke him all on her own without an inkling of notice, causing the skin around his eyes to pull further back, accentuating the unnatural pale blues even further. The casual drip of the gushing nectar had his mouth filling, almost cascading and the boy almost found himself flickering his tongue over velvety lips, but restrained highly from the action in case Lia would get terrified. His eyes, however, remained tunneled on the hand she retracted moments later in replacement for a cleaner one and did the most unexpected thing in the world that even startled the unnatural boy (and he had seen almost everything in the world.) It became mere instinct for Ristan to gape unattractively at that, jaw slack and wide like a complete idiot.
Before Lia could ever register his shock, the boy pulled it all together in one simple fluid movement that was almost impossible for human beings to detect and outstretched his hand slowly, mentally wincing at the following events about to occur - the girl would notice the temperature of his body which wasn't rich, warm and inviting but the opposite and probably run for the hills. If that were to happen, measures would have to be taken, like the initial intentions of making this girl the proper meal he hadn't had in weeks.
"Ristan..." He finally uttered in his velvety, smooth flowing voice and finally composed after all the images that traversed his head, his smile broadened cautiously.

Lia pulled her hand away from her mouth, swallowing any residual blood that had lingered. "Ristan." she let the r roll off her tongue, trying it out, "What a noble sounding name. I almost feel like there should be a title to go along with it." She snapped her mouth shut as soon as the words were out. The vibration of her teeth clashing sent little vibrations down her jaw. She may have very well insulted the man by making such a careless comment. Or maybe it would remind him of his superiority over a mortal like her. Her heart skipped as the next thought whispered through her mind. What if he was mortal too? obviously he wasn't human, he was after all in a school for the hidden communtiy of the world. She clasped his hand, focusing on the man in front of her instead of her flitting thoughts. Her eyes widened briefly, the only indication that she was suprised. He felt...cool. So not human, she sighed mentally. It was just as well, she may not be gifted in the way the other students were, but she was slightly more impressive than human males. At least that's what she had put down as the reason she could never find a guy. "It's so smooth. Your hand I mean. I almost feel like I'm holding cooled silk." She mused. In the concious part of her mind she hoped she hadn't said that loud enough for him to hear it. But if his lack of burning heat in his fingertips was any indication, she guessed he was probably of the very good hearing, strong, undead type. It was at that moment she realized she had just offended him again. What man in his right mind would take kindly to being called silky. "Lia you're so stupid, think then speak." The man must think she was absolutely mad. So Lia, blood to powerful magick, broke down and laughed her embarressment away. Tears glinted in the corner of almond eyes. "Great way to maybe make a new friend isn't it Ristan? I'll just make you think I escaped from a loony bin until you're so caught up you can't get away." Her smile was apologetic. She felt her heart clench a little. It was one of the reasons she snuck out at night. One couldn't become overwhelemed by a lack of companions if one never tried. She withdrew her hand reluctantly. In the most private part of her mind she admitted the smallest truth to herself. Ristan had such a sweet smile. The kind a girl could get lost in. She hoped they could be friends. He seemed...different.
